Meet Mary and Dan: dog parents, pizza afficionados, baseball lovers and basically two of the coolest people we know. Dan proposed to Mary on a recent trip to the States and when we begged them to let us photograph them for a styled New York style elopement shoot – they said yes!
Now I admit – I never thought I’d say that I’d be obsessed with the Valley. But here we are, and I have to say this day ticked all of the boxes: A schnelpie called Zeus, a great dress, a sunset ceremony on a rooftop and drinks with a few of their besties and two people madly in love and as made for each other as it gets.
(Keep an eye out for our new shirtless friend who wanted in on the toasting action. 😉 )
Aforementioned reservations notwithstanding, Fortitude Valley is fast becoming one of my favourite places to shoot. Rooftop bars, vintage cafes, tree-lined streets (and half the traffic of the CBD), gives elopements a laid-back urban vibe. Speaking of which – a huge thank you to Alfred & Constance who let us rock up and buy a few drinks and take some loved-up shots around their fine establishment.
Hope you love this as much as we do.
This day wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and generosity of the following people:
- My Bridal Centre Gowns (@mybridalcentre / @mybridalcentregowns)
- SJ Makup Artistry (@sjmakeupartistry)
- Mary (@maryhecker), Dan (@thewutangdan) and Zeus (@zeustheschnelpie)
- Alfred & Constance (@alfredandconstance)
- Cullum Stege for the kick-ass video.
