When Doug called and told me of his plans to sneakily propose to Mel at the place they shared their first kiss, he didn’t have to ask me twice. Like all good proposal stories, there was a comedy of errors around timing and inclement weather – and I might have uh, been standing around in the rain for awhile, waiting for the right moment to happen and for Doug to casually slip down onto one knee (which he did, finally!) – but – spoiler alert – she said yes and being soaked to the bone was completely worth it.
After the guess-what-we’re-engaged phonecalls to family, we checked out the glow worm caves (no photos unfortunately – but trust me, it was cool), headed to the bar for a wine tasting, and then to Stonehaven Manor for a few cuddly photos, and the occasional jig by the fireplace.
